~Sold to the U.K., thank you!~ $3000.USD

Fine and rare Yuan Dynasty azure glazed Jun bowl with purple splash and glazed “earlobe” above the foot, perfect condition. Please compare the bubbles and cracalature in enlargement #6 with an example from the Taipei National Palace Museum in enlargment #7. Jun was considered one of the official wares of the Northern Song dynasty and it should be noted that the in the Taipei collection they have reassessed the dating of Junyao to date only from the Jin to Yuan Dynasties, and utilitarian wares (b ...click for details

Fine and rare late Tang Dynasty shoe shaped inkstone, so named because it resembled the clog type shoe of the time. An historical aside; much of what is found in Japanese culture today traces its origins to ancient Tang Chinese culture. There is a flaw noted in enlargement #7, difficult to tell if it is a filled chip or just some impurity in the clay as it is quite hard and appears to be fired also has a very small chip noted in enlargement #8. $140.USD

Quirky glass ring emulating agate. This piece came from China but possibly is a trade object. I acquired this in a lot of other ancient pieces. A conservative dating to this is Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and guarantees it to this period. There is one crack as well as some bubble burst pitting on the surface. Outer D: 2.8cm and inner D: 1.9cm.

Fine old Qing Dynasty pierced jade and coral necklace on contemporary 66cm/26in 14K gold chain. The jade is three interlocking pieces carved from a single stone with one inclusion in the ring, please note the striations are artificially induced, the coral beads are carved in the shape of bats and are particularly precious.

~reserved~ $1500.USD

Fine and rare Tang Dynasty box with inverted mouthrim and stunning green sancai lead glaze. In exceptional condition with no frits or cracks there is one very minor chip on the edge of upper half noted in last enlargement. This was possibly used for cosmetic ointment as it the lower half has an inner clear glaze. D: 11.1cm/4.3in and H: 4.5cm/1.8in.

$800.USD

Exceptionally fine early Qing porcelain bowl circa Kangxi/Yongzheng, i.e., pre 1800, with Ge type glaze. There is one chip on the footrim noted in enlargement #5 and wear in the center as to be expected of an old piece. This piece is quite thinly potted for a Ge type with a paraffin patinaed brown glazed rim and inner foot. H: 6.2cm/2.5in and D: 14.5/5.6.

$200.USD

Fine and rare water dipper with a dragon’s head handle and “white silver” patina on green lead glaze. There is one small chip on the underside of rim noted in enlargements, otherwise perfect condition. I have scratched at the surface and white coat is rather powdery so a good wash might reveal a more appealing green glaze with silver patina surface. L: 20cm/7.9in, W: 13.3cm/5.2in and H: 8cm/3.1in.

$400.USD

Very rare collection of three circa Warring States/Han Dynasty high fired gray ceramic vessels with substantial traces of lacquer. Aside from a few chips on the mouthrims of the jar and one bowl the ceramics are solid and nice pieces in and off themselves. The lacquer is unstable but plainly visible, possibly some sort of artist’s fixative will prevent further deterioration. Please note second enlargement scale is metric.

$850.USD

Rare Southern Song shallow bowl with abstract prunus, clouds, moon in cavetto, and Chinese character in the footrim. Fired at the Yonghe kiln, Ji’an, Jiangsu Province, this is a classic piece, well documented in most books on Song ceramics but most notably in Chinese Brown and Black-Glazed Ceramics, 400-1400 by Robert Mowry, which has several examples. I was told when I acquired the piece that there is some restoration to the mouthrim, covering some fritted areas but having looked at this carefu ...click for details
