Rare Mishmi parang or da from the Digaro subgroup Arunachal Pradesh, India. This piece is contemporary and was acquired by a friend who took part in an expedition doing Ethnobotanical research in this remote region which borders Tibet two years ago. It is constructed of a bone pommel, hand forged blade, wood open scabbard, held together with copper wire and a pigskin carrying strap. There are only 8000 people in this particular ethnic group, so this would be of interest to the specialist co ...click for details

Exceptionally fine and rare circa early 20th CE, “Dha” from the Tai Yong subgroup in Lamphun, Province Thailand. Aside from a few chips and scrapes on surface (please note the finely plaited bamboo wrapping on the handle under the several layers of lacquer) this piece is in fine condition with a good well honed steel blade. The pommel is capped with silver and the traditional tasseled rope belt on a rubber sleeve was probably replaced around 40 to 50 years ago. Total length with sc ...click for details

Exceptionally fine Northern Thai/Lanna knife. The bronze handle dates to 18th century or earlier so in the context of Greater Thai history it would be the Ayutthaya period. I had the damascene blade and burl wood and buffalo horn scabbard added by Thai master craftsmen in Bangkok; these components are made with the highest quality materials available. The blade is made to scale and shape of an Ayutthaya weapon; quite possibly the original sheath might have been covered in silver repous ...click for details
