Very rare Xin (Wang Mang, 9-23 CE) Western/Eastern Han interregnum privately minted bronze charm/coin with Northern Dipper Constellation (Big Dipper), tortoise and sword symbols on obverse side. I have compared this with an original Wang Mang coin and there is no difference in material or size other than the symbols i.e., this was meant to be a lucky charm and not money. There is a minor split in the lower right quadrant on the face, barely visible on the other side unless you pick at the ve ...click for details

Fine and rare Jin Dynasty Yaozhou celadon hexagonal saucer with impressed fish and ocean design, the petaled shape of this piece is more in the style of Northern Song but the Jin tended towards a darker and thicker glaze. In perfect condition except for two chips on the foot, please note enlargement #4 the color of the clay is a classic example of a Yaozhou kiln ceramic. Last two enlargements contain examples of similar pieces for reference: Yaozhou Kiln, Shaanxi Travel & Tourism Press. D: 1 ...click for details

Fine and rare Yuan Dynasty azure glazed Jun bowl with purple splash and glazed “earlobe” above the foot, perfect condition. Please compare the bubbles and cracalature in enlargement #6 with an example from the Taipei National Palace Museum in enlargment #7. Jun was considered one of the official wares of the Northern Song dynasty and it should be noted that the in the Taipei collection they have reassessed the dating of Junyao to date only from the Jin to Yuan Dynasties, and utilitarian wares (b ...click for details

Fine and rare late Tang Dynasty shoe shaped inkstone, so named because it resembled the clog type shoe of the time. An historical aside; much of what is found in Japanese culture today traces its origins to ancient Tang Chinese culture. There is a flaw noted in enlargement #7, difficult to tell if it is a filled chip or just some impurity in the clay as it is quite hard and appears to be fired also has a very small chip noted in enlargement #8.
