Stunning flambé glazed jar with predominant pomegranate (ish) outer glaze and azure blue inner glaze. This piece appears to be emulating a Song official Jun ware as it has the typical brown glaze inside the foot found only the “Imperial” pieces, but this shape was never found in this class. Most likely this is from the Shekwan/Shiwan kiln in Guangdong, as they were the masters at reproducing the classic Song glazes, although this piece has the weight and feel of stoneware more than pottery ...click for details

Exceptionally fine early Qing porcelain bowl circa Kangxi/Yongzheng, i.e., pre 1800, with Ge type glaze. There is one chip on the footrim noted in enlargement #5 and wear in the center as to be expected of an old piece. Very rare collection of three circa Warring States/Han Dynasty high fired gray ceramic vessels with substantial traces of lacquer. Aside from a few chips on the mouthrims of the jar and one bowl the ceramics are solid and nice pieces in and off themselves. The lacquer is unstable but plainly visible, possibly some sort of artist’s fixative will prevent further deterioration. Please note second enlargement scale is metric.

Rare Southern Song shallow bowl with abstract prunus, clouds, moon in cavetto, and Chinese character in the footrim. Fired at the Yonghe kiln, Ji’an, Jiangsu Province, this is a classic piece, well documented in most books on Song ceramics but most notably in Chinese Brown and Black-Glazed Ceramics, 400-1400 by Robert Mowry, which has several examples. I was told when I acquired the piece that there is some restoration to the mouthrim, covering some fritted areas but having looked at this carefu ...click for details
