Good jade disc with lavender and apple green highlights. This is an old piece circa late 19th that has been repolished. Since it is almost impossible to distinguish dyed jade from undyed without a Spectroscopy test, this piece will retain its natural color as dyed jade will fade in over relatively short period of time, 5 to 10 years, more or less. No damage with a myriad of naturally occurring inclusions that resemble ice crackles under a loupe. D: 5.9cm/2.5in and .5cm/.2in thickness.

Three strands of Neolithic or Early Bronze Age shell beads i.e., pre Bactrian circa 2000 years or more from Afghanistan. Beads made of shells are the earliest form of human adornment discovered, some dating back as far as 82,000 years from Africa. I suppose there were some ancient proto hippies wearing flowers even older but these don’t preserve well. All these beads have been worked by ancient human hands to some extent or another for those who wish cogitate upon this fact. These are wearable ...click for details

Unusual mask from a Yunnan ethnic minority, possibly Qiang, Hani or Naxi. This piece is quite unique as it is carved from the end culm of a bamboo shoot, a material which I have never seen before for this sort of thing. Nuo rituals amongst the ethnic groups from this region are of an animist and shamanistic nature, I can’t add much more to it than that since the significance is usually specific to a particular shaman or village. This piece is circa 20 - 30 years old and is an authentic ritua ...click for details

Eclectic small copper bangle from the Khmu (Khamu) ethnic minority in Northern Laos, this is a barter/heirloom item that would be used to trade within the community. These people are the original inhabitants of the region and predate the Lao and Thai peoples. They usually live in remote areas around Luang Prabang and practice simple agriculture, hunting and gathering as well as bartering goods with other neighboring minorities. Good condition, there was some attempt to clean it (but not too ...click for details

Very fine etched opalized fern wood bead from the Pyu culture, in what is now Burma who were loose group of Buddhist city states connected by the Irrawady River, circa 300 CE to 700 CE. Good Tang Dynasty tazza with dark brown glaze that has amber highlights as well as an iron oxide patina. The glaze is stable with no repairs and a lovely shape. Minor fritting, a spot of kiln grit and small chips on inner edge of mouthrim (see enlargements). It’s debatable whether this should be considered a single colored sancai or “black” glaze as seen on larger Tang vessels. D: 13.3cm/5.2in and H: 6.8cm/2.8in.

Good pair of circa Han Dynasty funereal pierced Nephrite jade tiles; these would have been part of a larger burial suit or veil- some calcification, inclusions and tiny chips. These would make excellent study pieces for someone wanting to gain insight into cutting techniques and natural aging in ancient Jade. D: L: 5.2cm/2in and W:2.2cm/o.9in (2mm thickness).
