Fine and rare black bowl with a smooth dense gray clay body and brown splashes, from a Henan Kiln, Song or Jin Dynasty, although I tend to put it on the Northern Song side of the fence due to its finely potted narrow footrim. Excellent original condition with some natural wear and a minor bubble burst on the rim, no chips or cracks. This piece has “spur” support marks in the center which I have yet to see on this kind of ware. I personally like this piece; it has loads of “character” ...click for details

Fine and rare white stoneware mortar with a thick transparent glaze and decorated with knobs on the body in the emulation of a drum, from a northern kiln, circa Five Dynasties period (907CE – 960CE). This would have been used in conjunction with a pestle to grind herbs for Chinese Traditional Medicine. There is a single firing crack on the rim and a shallow body fracture in the cavetto that does not go all the way through. D: 14.5cm/6in and H: 5cm/2in. Please note that the actual color ...click for details

Fine and rare early Western Jin Dynasty Yueyao saucer, from Zhejiang. Originally there was another piece fused on this as may be noted by the dark crusty spot in the middle, which has been polished down somewhat, other than that in excellent condition with appealing shape. This piece is fairly identical to the reference photo from “Zhejiang Chronological Porcelain” and dated 297 CE. D: 17cm/6.8in.

Exceptionally rare brown glazed bowl from the Tang Dynasty. Outwardly this bowl seems fairly simple but the glaze is very complex with traces of a white slip below the glaze line on the foot and lighter “orange peel” textured brown splashes in the cavetto. This piece is possibly from the Yaozhou kiln, in Shaanxi Province. There is one hairline crack on the side noted in enlargements. D: 11.5cm/4.5in and H: 5cm/2in.

Rare Han Dynasty glazed kneeling pottery figure. Very quirky almost abstract style- originally this would have been a spinach green color but the surface has acquired an even silver light green patina due to the lead in the glaze. One minor firing crack at the bottom but overall excellent condition. H: 22.5cm/8.9in and W: 12.2cm/4.8in.

Fine and rare classic aquamarine glazed Song Dynasty bowl on a high footrim from the Hutian Jingdezhen kilns. There is a single fine hairline (I only discovered this after having it cleaned), and an original “bubble burst” on the side, all noted in enlargements. DE: 16cm/6.2in and H: 7.6cm/3in.

Exceptionally fine and rare "spun" bronze, alms bowl, Koryo Dynasty (AD 918 - 1392), circa 13CE, with polished black patina. D: 16.4cm/6.5in and H: 9.7cm/3.9in. The footrim is a separate and “riveted” piece, excellent condition except for a minor split on the foot rim noted in enlargements. Please note; reference photo in last enlargement from "Koryo Museum" in Kaesong, DPRK, courtesy of Brian Page Antiques, U.K.
