This early American watercolor, with a watermark that identifies the paper as coming from "Owen & Hurlbut, So Lee Mass", has a wonderful, wistful childlike quality, and may, in fact be from a sketchbook. The frame, a modern addition, measures 14 1/2 x 10", while the actual art work measures 12 1/2" 8". The drawing, which is under glass is in excellent condition. Massachusetts, c. 1840.
