| A touch of history ... Curly late Victorian bi-color gold ring with red strass stones and stone pearls. In our everlasting quest to find fresh antique jewelry we stumbled upon a real treasure. A jeweler's stock that has been in the family vaults for over 80 years. It is not often that we find jewelry that has been "trapped" in a time capsule. All jewelry in this stock was brand new when it was stored decades ago and besides a little dusting off we didn't have to do anything to offer it in its original splendour. This is as close to "brand new antique jewelry" as it can get. Object group: rings Country of origin: Although it does not carry any legible control marks we believe it is of Belgian origin. Style: late-Victorian - (styles overview) Period: ca. 1900 (events and facts in 1900) Material: 18K bi-color (yellow and white) gold - (precious metals) Technique: The white golden parts of this jewel are engraved in a way that gives the illusion that there are diamonds set in it, hence the name of this technique "illusion setting". Precious stones: Three rubies (lab produced) (also called verneuil ruby) or red strass stones and two stone pearls. - (precious stones) Birthstones: Ruby is the birthstone (or month stone) for July and pearl for June. - (general birthstones explanation) Hallmarks: "18" indicating 18K gold - (general hallmarks info) Condition: excellent condition - (our condition scale) Weight: 1.60 gram (1.03 dwt) Ring size Continental: 57 & 18¼ , Size US 8 , Size UK: P½ | ||
