The front of this lovely, high karat gold Victorian locket shows an idyllic scene in the Japanese taste, with a heron or crane standing in water beneath a canopy of bamboo. An original Aesthetic Period locket, it was surely a custom piece made for a wealthy individual to hold her precious children’s photos. The inside of the locket reveals two exquisitely rendered portraits on ivory. Exquisitely painted on mother-of-pearl, this lovely, fair-haired girl peeks out from under the bow of an ornately engraved 18k yellow gold frame with cobalt blue enamel. Blue skies and white clouds are her backdrop. This lovely Victorian miniature can be worn as a pendant, or the bail may be removed and a ribbon slid through the back so that it can be worn in other ways. This is a lovely petite portrait of a woman wearing a ruffled lace collar and feathered hat. Painted on ivory in the late 1800's, this miniature is set in a charming frame with a beveled green glass back. The diameter of the frame is 2 1/2 inches.
