| What a perfect enamel from the Victorian period, depicting a young couple with their dog and sheep in a luscious garden setting. The detail in the features and colors is exquisite and the extremely fine 18k yellow gold frame of textured and polished ribbons complement the romantic feeling and essence of this piece. The back is marked "LE REPOS" and "d'apres Boucher" which refers to the painting as being "after Boucher," a famous French painter. On the bottom of the frame, on the back, is a piece designed to enable the wearer to add a pendant, perhaps a pearl or a locket. From the top, in the back, one can weave a chain and wear this as a pedant. It measures 63 mm (2 1/2") by 55mm (2 1/8"). The enamel is in mint condition and exemplifies the finest quality workmanship in enamel paintings. C. 1870 | |||||
