Ovoid shape dynamic Japanese bamboo basket with flared rim by Kougetsu. Bamboo strips are beautiful reddish and dark rich colored, although they looks susudake since it was not kept in box and used actually. Free-form, roughly circular Japanese bamboo basket by Suemura shobun(1917-2000). Beautiful lines and rounded form are made of delicate, dark colored bamboo. Two knots on one side are plaited into one handle to the other side.Great condition, signed by Shoun on the bottom, tomobako, size, height 20cm, width 33cm.
Suemura Shobun(1917-2000): bamboo master born in Osaka, studied under Yamamoto Shoen. Shobun won prizes of Nitten and other art exhibition some times.
