| Beautiful, pot shaped Japanese bamboo basket by Tanabe Chikuunsai I. Basket looks very sophisticated and gentle, although itfs woven with simple technique, yotsume-ami. Ends of strips of the rim extend to the body. Color is shirasabi, blond color. Signed by Shoukansai on the bottom, with tomobako box, great condition. Size: height 39cm, width, 19cm. Taisho period Tanabe Chikuunsai I(1877-1937): one of the greatest bamboo master in Osaka, born in Hyogo Orefecture, studied under Wada Waichisai T, father of Chikuunsai U. Tanabe family is renowned family for bamboo weaving in Japan Chikuunsai was conversant with ikebana and tea ceremony .
