Very large Karatsu style teabowl that was thrown and tataki paddled with texture into an oval form. There are various tones of ash and iron yellow flowing about the bowl, especially seen on the inside. The foot is tooled by hand, off the wheel, to go with the form of the bowl. Intriguing chawan in the Mino tradition with thick trails of a feldspar Shino glaze over a rich temmoku glaze. This novel approach was created by Mino prefecture potter, Shomura Shogo and was most likely made in the 1980's. Elegant Irabo glazed chawan by Takatori legend, Miraku Kamei. This chawan has a Chinese influenced form while being made and glazed in the Takatori style. The flowing irabo ash glaze contrasts nicely against the reddish takatori fine clay. This chawan is in excellent, unused condition, measures 5" x 2.8" and comes complete with its original, signed box.
