A very fine and noble chawan by Hagi master potter; Kaneta Sanzaemon VII. This Hagi glazed boxed chawan measures 4.75” X 3.25” and is in excellent condition. The glaze of this chawan is a beautiful milky translucent Hagi ash glaze over a rich blue to black slip and shows a wonderful keshiki. Kaneta Sanzaemon is the father of the internationally recognized Hagi potter, Kaneta Masanao. Having inherited his style from his father, Shogetsu I, this chawan has a variety of subtle tones running through the glaze exterior and interior.
