A very fine and noble chawan by Hagi master potter; Kaneta Sanzaemon VII. This Hagi glazed boxed chawan measures 4.75” X 3.25” and is in excellent condition. The glaze of this chawan is a beautiful milky translucent Hagi ash glaze over a rich blue to black slip and shows a wonderful keshiki. Kaneta Sanzaemon is the father of the internationally recognized Hagi potter, Kaneta Masanao. Though typical for Sanzaemon in size and shape, this pot far exceeds his average work and presents exhibition qualities in this chawan.
This chawan is in excellent, unused condition and comes with the original signed box. |
