This iron sculpture belongs in the Guggenhiem Museum--believed to be inspired by a WWII naval anti aircraft deck gun-was made in the 1940s--composed of welded iron parts from assorted objects, all of which appear vintage--big piece--55 inches wide 33 inches deep and 58 inches high-on casters and gun tilts-very special piece-if you are bold, place in center of the living room-not for hen pecked husband--one of a kind-composed by skilled craftsman--had to take close to year to create--no condition problems--its silhouette will frighten prowlers--every castle needs one-art and function fused- the work is attributed to famous Australian sculptor Robert Klippel (1920-2001) Klippel was a sculpture assigned to the Australian Navy during WWII and became famous in US and Australia- in Museums-listed

Very rare and striking bas relief cast iron sculpture of General George Washington in uniform-23 inch diameter-3 inches thick to include bas relief projection-foundry mark WR- minor paint loss - no repairs or condition problems-has element to hang piece--probably a centennial piece-ca 1876--could be earlier--depicts Washington in uniform without wig--piece most likely American but depiction with that flowing hair has almost a French young Napoleon aspect--last cast iron plaque GW with wig I sold ended up on outdoors on a historic brick building in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia--handsome sculpture indoor or outdoor-- for an American patriot-viva la revolucion-dramatic
