Willi’s technical as well as his creative skills are evident in this generously proportioned large jar. The form is decorated with his signature swirls of glaze using both from creek clay and cornstalk ash glazes that create a colorful abstract. The jar has one side of glossy color, the result of ash settling on the side facing the mouth of the kiln during firing; the other sides are matte finished. Four strong handles complement the well-considered lip. Colors of red and yellow ochre as well as blue add contrast to the natural clay color. With artist’s stamp. 22h x 21” diameter (55.9 x 53.3cm)
