| Rare find for the collector! Rare for two reasons. These Gorham Medallion silver knives were manufactured using two dies ( double die-cut) a method that considerably increased the costs as it demanded production of twice as many dies. According to Albert Soeffing's book "Silver Medallion Flatware" Gorham Medallion silver pattern is usually seen in a single-die form. These knives are longer than the knives I have usually seen; they are 8 3/8" long.Rare too as they have a rarely seen King's Head Medallion. There is a monogram of the period, namely "Ellis". Marked sterling, Pat 1864 and Gorham anchor, lion and G hallmark. Retailer is J. Sander. | ||
