This is an extremely rare Carthaginian glass head pendant, circa 5th-4th century B.C. It is 1 1/2 inches long. This is a Mediterranean core-formed glass bead. This incredible Clovis point, found on the Little Missouri River in Nevada County, Arkansas in 1928, is made from highly translucent novaculite of which only a few are known to exist. It has, according to Greg Perino, undergone some kind of heat-treating. This is a carved portrait of Christ in gem quality emerald from Columbia. It has been specific gravity tested. It originated from the Chivor mining area in Columbia which produced higher grade specimens than the Muzo or Coscuez areas. It dates to around the middle 1600's and shows no evidence of modern tool marks. It is 233.24 carats. It is 1 1/2" tall, 1/1/4" wide and 1" deep. The patina is beautiful. I have decided to separate this point from my frame of Columbia River Gempoints shown on this website. I purchased this point from Intermountain Artifacts on 7-20-01. This is one of the most fascinating and unique artifacts I have ever seen. The axe is 5 1/2" from top to bottom and the handle is 7". The handle has been broken off in antiquity at the end which is a plus for me because you can see the internal cross section of the wood. The haft is completely fossilized (84% calcium carbonate). These are two beautiful artifacts from Arizona. One is an arrowhead. The other is a knife. Both are broken. Both are made from beautiful translucent Arizona petrified wood which is easily recognizable. They are both from the R. Harburger collection which contained some incredible artifacts. This 45-70 cartridge case was found with a metal detector by a friend of mine at the "Dull Knife Battle Site" fought in November, 1878 from the "Big Hole in the Wall" area in Wyoming.
Like many of you, I love the colorful gem points the most. You might have noticed that I specialize in this type of point and most of my points are in the gem category. I do not know what material this point is made from. It is that unusual. I can only classify it as a chalcedony. I do not know what type this point is. It was found in Nebraska. This transitional paleo Allen was found in Ash Hollow, Nebraska. I purchased it many years ago from Rick Stevens, Daltonman. The asking price is what I paid. It is made from a beautiful waxy translucent moss agate. Of special note is the incredible ribbon flaking. This quality of flaking rarely makes it to the open market. Basal area is ground. It is 1 3/4" long. An overall beautiful point.
This is a beautiful Pelican Lake point found in Wyoming that I purchased from the Arley Hudson collection in 1987. It is made from a gorgeous waxy translucent orange moss agate with two ribbons of white agate showing on the lower right side. The reverse side is heavily patinated from exposure. It is 2" long. It is extremely well chipped. You won't be disappointed with this one.
