DESCRIPTION: A beautiful round ivory box, the lid design skillfully carved in deep relief of a coiled dragon with double inlaid eyes among sea waves. The fitted sides have been left smooth and the bottom has a raised circular foot. Meiji Period (1868 – 1912), and in virtually perfect condition with no breaks, chips or repairs. DIMENSIONS: 2 ½” diameter (6.4 cm) x 1 ¾” high (4.5 cm).

DESCRIPTION: This ivory baton (or handle) has obviously been carved by a Japanese master. Sculpted with multiple levels of depth, one side of the tapered shaft displays a profusion of peonies, chrysanthemums and irises in full bloom, while the other is incised with a portrait of a woman and child. The signature appears in kanji characters under the child’s foot. Excellent condition, Meiji Period, 19th C. DIMENSIONS: 13 1/4" long (33.6 cm).
