DESCRIPTION: Magnificent, large Japanese wood hibachi (or brazier) with etched copper liner. This is an absolutely fabulous, hand crafted, one-of-a-kind hibachi carved from a single tree trunk with attractive and decorative hardwood inserts. The wood is “old growth” as evidenced by its close graining and has sumptuous lines and curves. The copper liner has beautifully etched patterns and comes with circular wood and glass insert tops that have been made to make this piece useful in a variety of applications. This brazier is from the estate of a Japanese-American collector and is in excellent, well cared for condition with a normal “chalking” to the bottom of the liner from use. Dimensions: 21" diameter, 10" high. Meiji Period, 19th Century.
