| DESCRIPTION: From the Florida estate of an avid Asian collector comes this large, exceptional Chinese cloisonné and gilt bronze brazier. Standing on four feet shaped as elephants’ trunks, the large body has a wide flared rim, perfect for distributing heat. Decorated with a flower and scrolling tendril design in bright enamels on a turquoise ground, the deep body would have held coals for heating. The brazier is crowned with a large pierced lid of similar design with its rim decorated in various Buddhist symbols (wheel, endless knot, double carp, etc.). The interior of both the body and lid are finished in solid turquoise enamel. This large 19th century brazier is in wonderful condition – we can find no dents, chips or losses anywhere. DIMENSIONS: We have included a photo of this marvelous brazier on a square Chinese table so you can see its tremendous size: 22 ½” diameter (57 cm) x 17 ½” high (44.5 cm). | |||||||||||||||
