| DESCRIPTION: A very special prize for collectors of jade, huanghuali or scholar’s items, this superb 19th century Chinese oval box is finely carved with archaistic taotie masks on each side, surrounded by carved C-scrolls on the body and lid. The cover is mounted with a white jade plaque which may pre-date the box, and is carved with two Buddha’s hand citrons in raised relief attached to a leafy branch.
