This museum quality silvered bronze Nepalese or Sino-Tibetan figure of Tara (also known as Kuan Yin or Guanyin) dates to the 14th to 15th century or earlier.
It stands 10 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter.
It has exquisite details and very subtle modeling.
It is in excellent condition and retains much of it's original silver finish.
A similar example can be seen in "Oriental Art: India, Nepal & Tibet" by Michael Ridley, 1970, Plate 37 (listed as 14th Century or earlier).
This delicate old Chinese brooch dates to about 100 years ago.
It measures about 1 5/8 inches (45 mm) at it's widest point (wing tip to wing tip) and 1 1/8 inch (29 mm top to bottom).
It is stamped "silver" on the reverse side .
It consists of a gilt silver filigree butterfly with attached old jades mounted as wings.
The old jades themselves are most likely worth more than the brooch, but it would be a shame to break them up.
These are flat, bean shaped jades with engraved leaf and flower motifs. Their colors range from pale celadon to apple green and they are not dyed or treated.
The overall condition of the brooch is quite nice, considering it's age and delicate nature. Someone took good care of this one.

This original painting (it is NOT a glycee or print of any kind) is in the style of the early 20th Century painters such as Rex Brandt or Herbert Vincent Olsen. It may have been done by a student or follower of Brandt or Olsen. Both were prolific art teachers and, as such, influenced many new artists at the time.
On the reverse is a strip of masking tape which appears to be possible matting and / or framing directions. In addition on the tape are the names Rex Brandt and Herb Olsen. This is just for information purposes -we are not attributing this painting to either artist at this time.
This is one painting from a small collection of early 20th century watercolor paintings, some of which are also being offered at this time. Check our other listings for additional offerings.
