$2895.00

This original bronze figure of a seated and robed official holding a jui (symbol of power) measures 8 1/2 inches tall by 5 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches.

It is covered overall with a very subtle and dark patina. It has a softness of detail that only comes from hundreds of years of handling. It also has a few cracks and slight losses to it's surface that do not detract from it's overall appearance.

It dates to a period ranging from the 16th through the 17th centuries in China.

The buyer will not be disappointed, as it is nicer than the photos would indicate. This bronze figure is guaranteed to be an original ( of the period) and is not a copy or reproduction of any kind.

$295.00

This pair of charming 18th-19th century copper censors are in the form of small archaic wine jars. They have some verdigris on them but they are in excellent condition.

They measure 5 1/4 inches tall by about 4 1/2 inches wide.

The tripod feet are comprised of foo dogs or temple lions with elongated tongues. They have been used as candle holders at some time and retain a small amount of wax on the interior.

There are no marks on these censors. They appear to be Chinese, made for the Japanese market. Circa 1780-1840"s.

$4500.00

This original bronze figure of a seated and jeweled Guanyin (Kwan-Yin) measures 10.75 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide by about 4 inches deep.

It consists of two separate pieces: the seated figure of Guanyin and the lotus stand. This is not unusual--old Chinese bronzes often consisted of more than one piece. Everything is original and it is not a marriage or mismatch.

It is covered overall with a dark patina that is dusty in most areas that haven't been handled for a very long time.

It is in very good condition with the exception of the loss of the thumb on the left hand and a couple of pinprick sized casting losses. The face has a nice sheen to the patina which indicates what the entire bronze could look like: should the buyer so desire it.

It dates to a period ranging from the 16th through the 18th century in China.

The buyer will not be disappointed, as it is nicer than the photos would indicate. This bronze figure is guaranteed to be an original (and of the period) and is not a copy or reproduction of any kind.

This massive bronze figure measures 21 inches tall by 9 inches wide by 8 inches in depth.

It is in excellent condition with remnants of old gilt and colors remaining in areas. The head is completely covered with an original layer of gold and the remainder is covered with a deep brown patina overall.

There are engraved Chinese character marks on the reverse side of the base which translates as left two. There are additional marks on the Gui held in front of the figure (translation currently in process).

Provenance on this massive and outstanding, museum quality gilt bronze figure: It was purchased from a collection of Asian antiques, originally acquired by one of the US military advisors to Chang Kai Chek and passed down through his family.

Many of the items that Chang looted or liberated during his travels became the basis for the National Museum Collection in Taiwan (except, of course, those items sold along the way to raise funds periodically).
