A set of coins and an oil lamp from 1971 commemorating York’s 1900 years of history. Lot includes a terracotta lamp with birds within the discus, written around the rim is - York 1971, EBURACUM LXXI, numbered 1122 out of 1900 made, L: 5 1/8" (13cm); as well as a group of coins mounted in a low box replicating issues of various Roman emperors. Also included are 9 other replica Roman coins. An interesting commemorative lot!

A pair of spouted pottery vessels. The first is a black-ware Amlash terracotta vessel, c. 1400 - 1200 BC, with beaked spout. Heavily restored but attractive. The second vessel is an odd red-ware single-handled vessel with round body and pedestal foot, the neck narrow and mouth flared. Nicely burnished with incised decoration. Culture and date unknown, Some repair.

A carved schist hand holding a sword, Kushan, c. 1st - 3rd Century AD, wearing a bracelet, the beads in the form of a seated figure (Buddha?). The handle of the weapon is well defined with a raised diamond near the pommel. An attractive piece with much attention paid to the details of the nails, the bracelet and the handle of the weapon. A pair of Chupicuaro terracotta cigar holders, c. 500 - 100 BC, with extremely fine red/black burnished surfaces, the ends with stylized monkey faces. A ritual cigar would have been placed in the holder and smoked in the same way as a cigarette in a holder would be today. L: 4 1/8" (10.5) & 3 1/4" (8.3 cm). One with minor loss to tip, the other in perfect condition. Ex Orange County private collection.

The sterling silver ring with 14k gold round bezel decorated with granulation, framing a bronze follis of Licinius II (AD 317 - 324), ring size roughly 9. The sterling silver earrings in antique inspired style, each set with a bronze follis of Constantius II. A nice matching set!
