A pair of Syrio-Palestinian terracotta lamps, Holy Land, c. 5th - 7th Century AD, the first with high ridge around fill-hole and spout, pinched handle and a cross just above the spout, L: 4 3/8" (11.1 cm); The second decorations around the fill-hole and above spout, rounded handle and indented base, L: 4" (10.2 cm). Both intact with signs of ancient use and light earthen deposits. Ex Los Angeles private collection.

A lot of three terracotta oil lamps. The first is a 'frog’ lamp from Roman Egypt, 4th - 5th Century AD, L: 3 1/4" (8.3 cm); the second is a Syrio-Palestine type, c. 6th - 7th Century AD, with knob handle, L: 4 3/4" (9.6 cm); the last a classic Islamic slipper lamp, c. 7th - 9th Century AD, of delicate construction and with crisply molded geometric decoration, L: 4 1/4" (10.8 cm). Ex is intact, the first two with signs of ancient use. Ex Los Angeles private collection.

A pair of Roman terracotta lamps from North Africa, 1st - 2nd Century AD, one with Athena sacrificing and the other with Diana advancing rt., both with shoulders decorated with an olive wreath. The lamp with Athena with maker’s mark 'POMPEIVS’ on base. L: 5" (12.7 cm) & 4 3/4" (12.1 cm). The first lamp with some repair, the second with earthen encrustation and 19th century collector note in black ink on lower edge near the handle. Ex old English private collection.
