A large Jalisco terracotta jar with molded heads, West Mexico, c. 200 BC - AD 350. All eight heads are nicely detailed and wears a tall headdress, three raised pellets between them. 7" ( 17.8 cm); Dia: 10 3/4" (27.3 cm). Some minor chipping to the faces. A group of 6 Pre-Colombian terracottas, ranging from a Colima figure with spiked ears, three heads from figures, one mounted, a terracotta votive head, and a partial terracotta roller. Largest piece measures 3 7/8" (9.8 cm) in height.
A lot of 3 Pre-Colombian terracottas. Lot includes a molded figure wearing an elaborate headdress, H: 4 1/2" (11.5 cm); a partial terracotta seated figure with bowl sitting on his knees, H: 4" (10.1 cm); and last a terracotta head, H: 2 1/2" (6.3 cm).
A pair of Chupicuaro terracotta cigar holders, c. 500 - 100 BC, with extremely fine red/black burnished surfaces, the ends with stylized monkey faces. A ritual cigar would have been placed in the holder and smoked in the same way as a cigarette in a holder would be today. L: 4 1/8" (10.5) & 3 1/4" (8.3 cm). One with minor loss to tip, the other in perfect condition. Ex Orange County private collection.
A fine Moche III bottle from Peru, c. AD 200 - 450, decorated with a series of repeating geometric designs, symbolizing terraced fields and achiranas. H: 8 1/2". Executed in red over cream earth tones, in excellent condition, with good mineral deposits. Ex Florida collection.
