A terracotta pot-support with mask of Papposeilenos, Ptolemaic Period, late 3rd - Mid-1st Century BC, with long striated beard, within an arched panel. The back is plain, the edge of the fire bowl still evident. H: 3 7/8" (9.8 cm). On custom base. Cf. An attractive terracotta figure of Bes, Ptolemaic Period, c. 2nd - 1st Century BC, naked, wearing a feathered headdress, standing with hands on his knees. The back is unmodelled with circular vent, the base with some losses. H: 5 7/8" (14.9 cm). Beautifully detailed with excellent style and traces of red pigment. Cf. Bailey, "Ptolemaic and Roman terracottas from Egypt in the British Museum", pl. 15, no. 3085; Ex Northern California private collection.

A pair of terracotta votive jars, Graeco-Roman, c. 2nd Century BC/AD. Both vessels are conical, one with a slight narrowing of the neck, with pointed bases. The smaller vessel with impressed vertical strips around the rim, the other with lobes or petals. H: 4 3/8" (11.1 cm) & 4 5/8" (11.8 cm). Both pieces are intact with a minor age crack, the smaller with some pitting and a rim chip. Rare and unusual. Ex Dr. Gilles collection, Germany, acquired in the 1950's - 60's.

A Pre-Dynastic black-topped jar, Nagada III, c. 3300 - 3100 BC. The jar has roughly flattened sides giving it a rather squarish look. Some flaking of the surface and rim chipping, but otherwise intact. H: 4 1/2" (11.4 cm). Ex Dr. Gilles collection, Germany, acquired in the 1950's - 60's.

A pale green faience offering jar, Dynasty 26, c. 664 - 535 BC, with cylindrical body, flat base and flared mouth. Intact with a few small areas of roughness. H: 1 5/8" (6.7 cm). Ex Thomas Collingwood collection, Philadelphia, acquired before 1970. The ancient Egyptian tomb often had a nearby chapel where the family or friends of the deceased could come to pay respects and leave offerings, often in terracotta or faience jars such as this example.
