| A Villanovan bronze lid or applique with stylized bird heads, c. 8th Century BC. The three birds are similar, each having a long curved beak, and a sinuous neck that curves down to the rectangular base which sits above a pair of flanges. H: 1 5/8" (4.2 cm). Some minor corrosion to the edges of the disk. Mounted on a custom base. Ex Dr. Gilles Collection, Germany, acquired during the 1950’s & 60’s. | |||||||
