This rare sculpture of a Indian scout is the main work of Josef Drischler (1838 - 1917). Drischler was born in Rinteln (Germany) and worked in Berlin. Several of his works have been in art exhibitions. A sculpture of Herzog Otto dem Strengen by Drischler is in front of the Bomann museum in Celle and another statue of General Moltke was placed on a public place in Reichenbach (1901). Good condition. Signed "P. DUBOIS" and "F BARBEDIENNE Fondeur" with "Reduction Merchanique A. Collas Brevete" circular seal. Marked #41 underneath. Size: 15 3/4 high.

Louis Vidal (French, 1831?1892) pursued a very successful career in sculpture in despite a childhood disease that eventually took his sight.
