| This wonderful little pin in 14K yellow gold is 1-7/8" wide at the bar, 1-1/2" high. There are no marks on the pin, but I have tested it and guarantee that it is 14K. The delightful design consists of a parrot with pave set oval and round sapphires in the body and pave set rose cut diamonds on the top and tail. The sapphires appear to be Ceylon in origin, but I have not had them analyzed. The parrot is gazing at a small white pearl, which could be a natural pearl. Because of the design and the rose cut diamonds, I would estimate that the pin is Victorian, around 1880-1890. The safety catch has been replaced with a modern safety, since the original Victorian C shaped safeties tended to break. The condition is excellent. | ||
