No it's not in great shape but yes, it is a real serialized dagger and is priced reasonably. As is common to hard wood SS handles there is a chip out of the upper corner but age has smoothed it over a good bit and it is not too damning. There are tap marks on the back of the upper crossguard. This is another common type of wear and caused by the original owner using it to tap a posting or flyer onto a wall. Extremely interesting trench art style ashtray. The top is a P38 Lightning (Looks like zinc). The propellers are British one cent coins from 1908 and 1912, with the 1912 actually being Canadian. I am not sure what the brass post is from but it has what looks like 2 tiny little proofs stamped in it. The post fits snuggly in the hole of the base. Yep, this is how we roll. The three crosses represent Iron Cross second and first class and the Knight's cross respectively, with the Knights Cross being a bit larger. Nice even aging but no damage or abuse. Nice straight pin with the proper twist. Lapel pins such as this were authorized to be worn with civilian clothes and even though it was a private purchase deal, the individual had to have proper documentation to acquire them. Dynamite piece.
