Very interesting Honorable Discharge from the Army of the Confederate States. Condition is rough but I doubt many of these have survived, much less even given out as the Confederacy was never in a good position to just let trained soldiers walk away. The ink is very faded but I know "document guys" do have ways of bringing old, faded ink back to life. It is possible to make out a lot of the details, though. This certificate was given to William H Dukes, a private of Captain Francis M ( ...click for details

Wonderful three volume set titled New York at Gettysburg. Published in 1900. As you can imagine, devoting three books to troops from one state in one battle, great detail is possible. It goes into every unit, casualty counts, location and content of monument as well as just about any detail you could imagine relevant to any of the New York units. Volume three has the cracked binding on the inside cover as shown in the photographs. Volume one has the binding damage on the outside as shown in the ...click for details

Very cool G.A.R. kepi for the first New Hampshire regiment which fought at First Bull Run and other notable engagements. Very neat bullion patches and GAR buttons. Very solid structural condition. Damage consists of 2 nips to the fabric and a blister to the bottom of the visor all shown in the photos. Nips are hard to notice because of the dark color of the hat overall. Label looks to read "THE M. C. LILLEY & CO COLUMBUS OHIO MANUFACTURERS OF MILITARY AND SOCIETY GOODS". I am not s ...click for details

Wonderful piece of jewelry that is collectible in many levels. It looks to be a watch fob the bottom of which is a Civil War style canteen. One side reads "U.S." and the other "Gettysburg". As the fabric is black I would assume it is mourning jewelry; If it were a proud veteran it would more likely have a splashy color scheme like red, white and blue. A likely scenario is a father grieving for his fallen son. Gettysburg related material is extremely hard to find in today's ...click for details

Original USN officer's sword for the budget shopper. The handle is actually a real looker with near perfect fish skin and wire wrap. Fair amount of gilt left to the brass and of course the very cool USN showing on the guard. One of my favorite aspects of the naval officer swords is the sea serpents worked in the quillon and the top of the knuckle guard. The blade is where the party ends. The edge took a rough sharpening somewhere along the way and while there are watermarks here and there. K ...click for details

Very nice Civil War cartridge box with both tins. All the straps and button are in fine shape. 1864 type with embossed US on the front. There is a hole on each side of the embossed US. Some units attached plates for the victory parades for uniformity so this is a period alteration. Leather is strongt throughout with only the obligatory surface crackling due to age in just a few spots. Nothing is near breaking or falling off. really a nice specimen priced right.
