Heer Infantry EM Field Blouse / Tunic WWII German
This is a mid to late war combat/field tunic. It is hard for me to pin down the exact year model as their are some period alterations. Alterations are often the rule rather then the exception and are generally acceptable as long as they are period done which is obviously the case here. The pockets are unpleated which is a sign of later war tunics. Of note is the different shade of feldgrau on the pockets versus the tunic. This is sometimes seen as the fabric was very much used and reused in an attempt at conservation of sorts. The alteration on the inside with blue tint, though, indiactes that the pockets were redone. I think the most likely scenario is that it had an earlier style of pocket, one was torn and they were all replaced at the same time with a later style current to the time of repair. Not a lot of care was put into making them look nice as the goal was just to keep them serviceable. It is interesting that you rarely see plain old infantry private field tunics when there should be nothing more common. Most have been "promoted" to higher ranks for "cooler" branches of service (Why are "smoke" troops just as common as infantry?). This whole set is right out of the woodwork and is guaranteed not to have been messed around with since 1945. The lining is a typical WWII German layout with a tall, narrow field dressing pocket on the bottom corner. Just a neat, original landser tunic meant for business.
