| A Fascinating Large Reddish brown narrow oval Vase by the Artist Sato Kazuhiko(b1947)Fujisawa,Kanagawa prefecture;lives in Fujisawa.Winner of the Salon de Printemps award at the Tokyo Museum;this artist creates abstract functional pieces,that are strikingly original.His ceramics are much admired and used for avant-garde flower arranging(Ikebana). All his work is hand-modeled,and most of it comprises vases and jars. Their bodies are made of a mixture of Shigaraki and Seto clays with quartz inclusions,and fires them for long periods of time at high temperatures.This particular specimen has an unorthodox,Oval,form softened by the irregularity of its lip.The body has triangle fine white lines inlaid decoration.Potters incised signature and "SATOH 1992" and another red seal on the base.
