| A splendid example of a Wooblock by the famed and prolific french artist Paul Jacoulet.Daikoku,Dieu de La Richesse,Personnifie Par Une Courtisane Du Shimabara.Kyoto,Japon.(Daikoku,The God of wealth,Personified by a Courtesan of Shimabara,Kyoto,Japan.)Listed in the Paul Jacoulet book by Richard Miles Page 117 #123.This particular woodblock is pencil signed by Paul Jacoulet and is Number 56/350.Unframed.Coin seal,Carver: Maeda.Printer:Onodera.Published 26th October 1952.Has the watermark and the colors are intense with Mica and Gauffrage(blind printing to give an embossed effect) amongst the Takaramono (Precious Jewels)emblems.Condition: Very good, toning in the margin.This would make an interesting addition to the Jacoulet collection,in particular if you have Ebisu #122(Miles book)that was paired with this example.Please note that Ebisu and Daikoku are two of the Shichifukujin(Seven Gods of Luck). | ||
