Wax angels were among the earliest tree decorations. This angel is 5 1/2 inches long. She has a blond real hair wig, Dresden paper wings and a metal trumpet in her hand. Wax is very fragile substance so her condition is good but she has a crack in one arm and one leg. These angels are very hard to find. Circa 1910.

What a treat to have a chain of train cars to trim your tree! These beads date from the late 1940s or early 1950s and were made from original molds - most likely Czech but possibly German. The cars are silvered and have windows and trim painted red and green. The tops of the cars are gold. There is a silver bead between each car. One car is broken but all of the other cars are in wonderful condition. The chain is 58 inches long.

Early Christmas trees were lit with candles in counterbalanced holders. These had a long wire with a lead weight at the bottom which was designed to balance the weight of the candles. Then the candles stood straight and burned evenly so that wax drippings were kept at a minimum. Nonetheless they had saucers to catch drippings.
