What a treat to have a chain of train cars to trim your tree! These beads date from the late 1940s or early 1950s and were made from original molds - most likely Czech but possibly German. The cars are silvered and have windows and trim painted red and green. The tops of the cars are gold. There is a silver bead between each car. One car is broken but all of the other cars are in wonderful condition. The chain is 58 inches long.

Delightful fruit plate! This type of plate was produced over a long period of time, but this particular one is pre-1900 and shows the appropriate mark on the back. It is 7 1/2 inches in diameter, has no chips or cracks but normal crazing for a piece of this vintage. On the back rim there are 2 holes for threading a string to hang the plate on the wall. A most decorative piece!

These poor old dears, no longer able to do their jobs,
left home to seek their fortune in the town of
Bremen. So the German fairy tale written down by the
Brothers Grimm goes. This figure is made up of four
ring-turned animals carved in the workshop of the
internationally renowned craftsman Christian Werner.
This workshop is in the tiny German village of Seiffen
in Erzgebirge, the mountain home of wooden toys,
especially animals, made by carving sections out of
lathed rings. This grou ...click for details
