The blunt edges and rounded tip suggest this would be more effective as a page turner rather than for opening letters - but page turners I've owned previously were larger. The fern fronds and ivy leaves printed on sycamore wood are clear and crisp. There is very light wear along the edges but otherwise the condition is excellent. Made in Scotland circa 1870 this piece measures 8-3/4 inches in length.

$550.00

Here is a well and tree platter made in England circa 1840 by Copeland and Garrett, a manufacturer associated with Spode at times. This is a meat platter: the channels, called tree, allow juices to drain into the well. The platter is in excellent condition with wear from usage, mostly on the reverse and slight buffering around the rim, but no chips, cracks or repairs. It is large and heavy and the uneven rim indicates that it was difficult to fire in the kiln and buckled slightly. The cobal ...click for details
