The 2-1/2 inch tall by 2-1/2 inch wide cup is hand painted with the petit breton in one panel and flowers in the other panels. It is marked on the bottom HB Quimper France, dating the set to the mid-1900s. The 5-1/2 inch diameter saucer with floral decoration is just marked "France". Both pieces are in yellow, known as soleil, and are in very excellent condition with minor nicks typical of the soft earthenware used.

Fine floral painting on this set comprising a dragon head handled cup and saucer, circa 1935. The cup (2-3/8 inches high by 3-1/4 inches wide) is decorated with the petit breton although the floral borders show better artistry. The saucer is 5-3/4 inches in diameter. The condition of both pieces is excellent with only tiny typical nicks on the rim of the cup and some lumpy glaze inside the cup.

These rare Art Deco plates are offered as a pair, with the cost attributed only to the Bretonne (woman) as the plate with the man was smashed and put back together sometime during its history. They are from the Henriot factory, circa 1930, measuring 8 inches in diameter. The Bretonne has some paint flakes but no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. The pair makes an effective display.

Highly decorative 9-inch plate made by the HB Quimper pottery for Ovington's department store, sometime in the decade following World War II. The hand-painted decoration is very skilled, although the coloration is paler (and I think more successful) than other versions of this pattern I have seen, in which the colors are very acid (even though the lighter palette could be due to an unexpected firing event). The condition is mint with no chips, cracks, stains, repairs or crazing - there is ...click for details
