| A barrel shaped wooden bank with an applied printed paper motto: "THRIFT". The wording reads: "To catch dame Fortune's golden smile, Assiduous wait upon her, And gather gear by every wile, that's justified by honour." The bank was made in Scotland circa 1880 and measures about 3-1/4 inches tall and 2-3/4 inches in diameter. It was used, with noticeable wear around the upper rim and at the money slot. The blue morocco paper on the bottom also shows wear. It is a charming survivor of an earlier time. | ||
