| Highly decorative 9-inch plate made by the HB Quimper pottery for Ovington's department store, sometime in the decade following World War II. The hand-painted decoration is very skilled, although the coloration is paler (and I think more successful) than other versions of this pattern I have seen, in which the colors are very acid (even though the lighter palette could be due to an unexpected firing event). The condition is mint with no chips, cracks, stains, repairs or crazing - there is a bit of kiln debris that is hardly noticeable. (Note: the colors in the full plate picture are the most accurate.) | ||
