FLASK WITH OBLATE SPHEROID BODY, 3RD-7TH CENT AD
Culture: Sassanian. Date: 3rd - 7th Century A.D. Material: Glass. Condition: Intact, with superb golden iridescence. Provenance: American private collection. Measurements: 3.25 inches high (8 cms), 4 inches in diameter (10 cms). Blown into a spheroid form, the rim everted with rounded edges. Bottles of this type are generally regarded as Sassanian. An extremely rare type in an exceptional condition. Cf: Cat. no. 2, p. 17, Sassanian and Post-Sassanian Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass; no. 135, p. 105, Masterpieces of Glass (The British Museum).
