| Culture: Near Eastern/ Mari. Date: 2550 - 2250 BC. Material: Terracotta. Condition: Intact, preserving the entire face and neck. Provenance: Ex: American private collection. Measurements: 3.1 inch high (8 cms). May have been part of a larger figure. Such figures were assembled from different material were popular in the late Uruk. early Dynastic periods. In the case of our example, only the face and neck were preserved. The eyes and eyebrows are recessed and were previously inlayed. A very nice and very rare example. Cf: Art of The First Cities, no. 105, p. 162. | ||
