Pair Japanese Cloisonne Vases - Snow Castle Procession
A fine matched pair of Japanese cloisonné vases, the scene is of a procession making its way up a snow covered mountain to a castle or shrine/temple. The decoration is beautifully executed in silver wire and wireless techniques, all on a bluish grey ground. The vases are in very good condition, both have a hairline on the interior, which do not go through to the outside and are only visible inside, one vase also has a hairline on the base (see photos). The rim and foot are tarnished, so assume they are silver. These are difficult to date for me, but believe they are from the Taisho or early Showa period (1920-1950). The vases are almost 7” (17cm) high and 4 ½” (11.5cm) wide……………………………….................. Insured shipping for the pair will be $18.00 in the mainland US, if you want it shipped to Hawaii, Alaska or anywhere else in the world please email me for shipping cost. I am very careful about packing, most items are double boxed so rest assured you will receive the piece undamaged and as described. I will be selling many pieces of ceramics I have collected over the years in the next few weeks, so please make sure to look at my other auctions, I am certain you will find them interesting. I accept Paypal, M.O.’s, and checks - if you are an international buyer you will need to use Paypal or arrange another form of payment.
