Heavy antique door from a Japanese kura, or storehouse, from the late Edo-Period (c. 1850). The traditional Japanese house is very minimally furnished, with furniture often changing seasonally. When not in use, furnishings and other valuables were placed in the kura, or safe storehouse. These traditional storehouses may have been made from stone to protect them from fire. Antique Japanese lacquered wood service tray in the kamakura-bori style. 19 by 12 inches wide, and one inch tall. Beautiful scarlet lacquer, with traditional textured surface and decorative floral pattern. Taisho-Period (1912-1926); good to excellent condition. Japanese antique hibachi, a small coal burning brazier traditionally used as a room or hand warmer. Measures approximately 8 inches tall, 15 inches wide and 9 inches deep. Crafted from beautifully grained keyaki, an indigenous Japanese hardwood. Taisho-Period (1912-1926); fair to good condition. Wood exterior is in overall good condition. Antique kiri wood tabako-bon, a traditional Japanese smoking set. Similar to a small hibachi, this quaint little item is crafted from prized kiri, or paulownia wood. It features a copper insert and bamboo container for dowsing spent ashes. This item dates to the late Taisho-Period (1912-1926), and is in very good condition. The tabako bon measures roughly 7 inches in diameter by 3 1/2 inches tall.

Good condition; normal wear and tear, including some very light chips around the mouth, and a short horizontal hairline fracture near the base.
