Small vintage Japanese Kaidan Dansu, a miniature step chest. Crafted from Hinoki and Sugi, subspecies of the cypress family indigenous to Japan, this quaint little chest has a simple, rustic charm. It dates to the early Showa-Period (c. 1950), and is in excellent condition. A light wax and buffing has brought out the rich original patina. It measures approximately 25 1/2" wide, 24 1/2" deep and 27 1/2" tall.
