| Antique Japanese todana dansu, a tansu chest designed for general household storage. Meiji-Period (c.1890), thoroughly cleaned and buffed with teak colored wax finish. Crafted from Hinoki, or Japanese Cypress, with precise mortise and tenon joinery. Excellent overall condition. Cast iron lock plates and handles. Locking mechanisms have been disabled on the locks to prevent jamming. Lowest left facing drawer front has been replaced by previous owner in Japan, and has slightly lighter patina. 68 inches wide, 33.25 inches tall, and 19.5 inches deep.
