Carved polished Chinese chen yu (genuine jade) is of mythical animals, lung-ma and feng-huang and lotus.[10A, 159B, 163C] It is a bi-color jadeite mineral hand carved on all sides and pierced to be a pendant.[90D] The hand carving on this chen yu was done by lapidary techniques in China using Guatemalan jadeite of gray-lavender and green-brown bi-colors according to the referenced color chart[65H] and the Mohs Scale hardness of 6-7.[33 I, 96J] Most of the front of the pendant is a deeply carved ...click for details

This bronze panch patra was fabricated in Western India, probably in the state of Maharashtra, during the 19th Century.[147A] Embossed decorations of typical Indian floral and foliate designs are finely chiseled, encircling the top and bottom of the bronze cup between rows of concentric lines crafted by hammer and punch work.[144B] Panch patra are used in religious rituals in offering water to idols. This hardstone Chinese carving of a carabao group is carved from a single block of mottled dark greenish gray serpentine with fluorescent yellow colors. A mother water buffalo and her two attentive calves are depicted in a soft luster through lapidary art in what the Chinese call shou shan stone. This large hand carved treen is of a carabao with two herd boys on his back mounted in a custom 'rice paddy' base. This sculpture appears crafted from one piece of hardwood with many undercuts and inlaid eyes and ivory teeth. This treen has age cracks which we can restore and was probably carved about 1920. Hsi Wang Mu is the oldest Taoist cult figure, also known as the Queen of the Eight Immortals or Genii. She is first described on oracle bones in the 13th Century B.C. In some myths she holds the herb elixir of immortality and grows peaches in the Taoist paradise called Shou Shan (hills of longevity).
